DeepBall has no accounts and never asks for your email. Here is everything it keeps, why, and who else handles it.
What we collect
- A random player id, stored in a cookie on your browser for up to a year. It is a random string with no name or email in it. It lets the game know you have already played today and keep your results together.
- Your answers and results: what you typed for each question (including wrong tries), the tier and yards each answer earned, and when you played.
- Gameplay diagnostics: a short technical log of how each answer box was used (taps and typing timing, not anything typed outside the game) and your browser's user-agent string, so we can find and fix bugs.
- Feedback you choose to send from the box under your box score, and a name if you choose to add one.
- Usage analytics: events such as starting the day, finishing it and copying your result, measured without cookies and without tracking you across other sites.
- Standard server logs kept by our host (such as IP address, time and page requested), for security and to keep the site running.
Your browser also saves your game in progress in its local storage, so a reload doesn't lose your place.
Why
To run the daily game, stop the same day being replayed, show you how your score compares with other players, fix bugs, and make the questions and scoring better.
Who else handles it
We do not sell or share your personal information, and there are no ads. Three service providers process it on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database) and PostHog (analytics). We may publish anonymous, combined results — for example how many players picked an answer, or the rarest answers of the day — never tied to a player id or a name.
How long we keep it
Results and feedback are kept while the game runs, because each day's score curve is built from earlier players' results. Diagnostics are kept only as long as they help fix bugs. Server logs are kept for a short period by our host.
Your choices
Clearing your cookies breaks the link between your browser and your past results. To ask for your results or feedback to be deleted, message us on X at @playdeepball.
Children
DeepBall is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has played, message us and we will delete the results we can link to them.
